Pablo Rovner


Pablo Rovner is an Argentinean guitar player with a wide professional experience.

His playing has been influenced by many kinds of music tendences like: Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Latin Jazz, etc.

Graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) at the Musicians Institute de Los Ángeles (California, USA); and from the Conservatory Félix Varela of La Havana (Cuba).

He is in the teacher profession since the age of 19 and his experience at this area took him to develop a personal method in which the body-instrument relationship has a crucial importance.


Professional performance

Actually he is the editor of the magazine Guitarristas.ar (www.guitarristasar.com) the one is distributed simultaneously in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Venezuela.

He gives Harmony Courses with a personal method, interiorizing in the music world looking for a deep comprehension of all the elements that interact in the composition process and at the final building of a music piece.


At the same time he is responsible for the selection of the musicians for the American cruise company Royal Caribbean International, for the one he worked for 3 years as a member of their Big Bands.

During his career he has been called in several occasions to participate and record in different projects and events.

He also works as a composer and arranger for plays and he is the author of a brand new book method of Funk-Rock Guitar.


Studies

At Los Angeles he took lessons with the well-known fusion guitar player Scott Henderson (Tribal Tech, Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty, Joe Zawinul, etc.).

In La Havana (Cuba) he studied composition with the pianist Andrés Alen, winner of the 2001 Latin Grammy Award to the ‘Best Instrumental Interpretation’ for his album ‘Pianoforte’.

By the hand of the Argentinean concert pianist Susana Bonora, he acquainted on the ‘Conscience Relaxation Technique’, deeping in a new approach to the guitar technique, the one he applies today at his classes.


Bands

He was guitarist, arranger and director of the band of the blues singer Gladys Caldas (ex- chorus girl of the famous argentinean guitar players Norberto ‘Pappo’ Napolitano and JAF).

He was guitarist and founder member of the Giusti Funk Corp. band, headed for the bass player Alejandro Giusti, with Daniel ‘Pipi’ Piazzolla in drums. With them he recorded two CD’s: Barrio Funk & Plan C; as a guitarist, composer and arranger. In the recordings participated musicians such as: Lito Vitale (keyboards), Alvaro Torres (keyboards), Nicolás Gershberg (piano), Juan Cruz Urquiza (trumpet), Gustavo Muzzo (saxophone), Gustavo Cámara (saxophone), etc.

Together with Daniel Piazzolla (drums) and Guido Martínez (bass), took part of the latin jazz group Clave Latina performing with them at many local Jazz Festivals.

With Alejandro Giusti (bajo) and Daniel Piazzolla (batería) was part of a funk-jazz power trio called The face of God
